Oshodi is arguably the busiest transport hub in Nigeria with over 5,600 buses loading per day, spreading across 13 different motor parks. It attracts over 200,000 passengers boarding per day, about 1 million pedestrians, and 76% of its area dedicated to transport and related activities.

Oshodi, however, lacks essential transport infrastructural facilities, such as walkways, bus shelters, etc. The location is characterised by scattered intra and inter-city bus parks, on-street loading and unloading of passengers. The parks are unorganised, and are in a degraded environment with poor transport facilities, overcrowded, huge traffic congestion, unsafe and insecure.

Planet Projects Limited has designed, and is currently constructing the Oshodi Transport Interchange (OTI), which seeks to create a world-class business, tourism and transport district with focus on transportation, security, environment and urban renewal. The Interchange involves three multi-storey bus terminals with facilities such as waiting areas, loading bays, ticketing stands, drivers’ lounges, parking areas, conveniences, surveillance towers and CCTV gadgets.

Other features include –

  • Accessible walkways,
  • Pedestrian bridges/skywalks which link the three terminals,
  • Shopping malls with street lighting,
  • A dedicated security team on the ground,
  • The transport facility also incorporates a shopping mall and a hotel.

Upon completion, the Oshodi Transport Interchange would be an iconic transport and economic hub, providing intra-city and intercity passengers a seamless transition between transport modes in a safe, secure, and comfortable atmosphere.
